Next time you swipe your card and pin your pin number at a shop or withdraw money from your account,be aware–card skimming has hit India hard.



The new card-cloning syndrome has shaken the all previous records of fraud technique in India. Frauds have become technology proficient.



Recently, the crime cell of the Chennai Police seized four people for using forged cards and withdrawing money through them, not only this they even recovered 160 forged international credit cards.



ACP-Cyber Crime Cell, Chennai Police, S Balu said:

There have cheated people of over Rs 20 lakh in the past three days. But, we were able to recover about Rs 6 lakh.

The accused say that they are active members of a UK-based gang that reads data through a magnetic strip and clone credit cards by means of a small machine called a skimmer then cards are dispatched to India.
