Jodhpur rape verdict: Justice 'swift' for foreigners but delayed for IndiansIt’s not always that justice is denied and delayed in our country; Justice can be delivered and that too at a faster pace - in just nine working days. But sorry Indians are not allowed in this fast judgment zone.

The pace of the case and the judgment put on view in the Jodhpur rape case undoubtly is an exception made for a German tourist in a state heavily dependent on foreign tourism.

Seems our State administrators are not worried about the security of the citizens but about the foreign tourism. Tourism is more important than women security in the state.

This is infact the second case of conviction of a man in a rape case by a fast track court in Rajasthan. The first involved a German tourist who was raped by an auto rickshaw driver and his colleague in Jodhpur on May 11 last year.

I would like to ask all the state administrators, where were these fast track courts when a Dalit was gang raped in the same city four months later?

No such special efforts were made so as render her a speedy justice. This is the destiny of an Indian in India, our government is much bothered about foreigners security, but the key doubt is where do we Indians go and seek for justice and fast judgments.

Jodhpur Rape Verdict:
This post is reply to the veiw point of the puja which was posted by her on Thursday Apr 13 2006, 4:41pm under the heading
Justice ’swift’ for Foreigners but Delayed for Indians

May be you are right Pooja but I would like to ask u a question that don’t u think the step which was made by Jodhpur court was admirable. If your argument is taken that the same step was not made when 4 months ago a Dalit was gang raped.

But if Jodhpur fast track court would have given speedy justice to the Dalit and not to the German than Yours or other fellows’ argument would be that no security is there to foreigners in India. India is very egotistical country. But the reason of differentiation which was made by delivering the judgment can be because of need, requirement, and want of delivering that type of judgment. If u see a citizen is raped and a foreigner is raped the foreigner’s case will obviously be in more need to be look after.

The name of this country is ‘BHARAT’ where it is rightly accepted by the heart of each and every citizen of this prosperous country “ATHITHI DEVO BHAV” – A Guest Is a God. People instead of criticizing the judiciary, should praise it for its special effort made. We should encourage the judiciary instead of discouraging its action and should hope that the same pace by judiciary will be shown to the people in activating the justice.

this is with reference to puja`s article and ricky`s comments.yes,we should admire the judiciary for its swift action.true, guests are regarded as next to god in our culture.we succeeded in providing justice to our victimised guest.the crime perpetrated was rape.it is a heinous offence.if judiciary can act swiftly in case of a foreigner, why not it can act so in case of citizens of this country.the victim may be a dalit, foreigner, upper caste or may belong to any other community.in the eyeof the law all are equal.constituition categorically states that state must provide minorities with safety.it is the role and duty of media to highlight the loopholes in our system.puja`s report is just doing the same.a crime is a crime is a crime.justice starts at home.if our judiciary fails to provide speedy justice to our citizens it needs to be prodded, reminded of its laziness.we will earn respect from the world when we makeour justice dispensation system efficint and accountable to ourselves.
