India’s former pace spearhead Javagal Srinath has been selected for the second tier of part-time match referees. Srinath joins former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and Australian Alan Hurst in the panel.
Srinath will be the first Indian to be on the elite ICC panel since November 2003. The Karnataka speedster has had a distinguished career, representing India in 67 Tests and 229 one-day internationals.
I think now Srinath will have to work persistently not only on game but on rules as well. Srinath was an oddity as a pacer. He was gentle and mild-mannered, a rare quality to have in a pacer. I wish Srinath turns out as a strict match referee who will act fast against sledging.
