The fight over airspace: IAF losing to commercial planesCommercialism seems like on a very sharp rise in India especially if we are talking about our air fields, even number of such flights have increased due to the civil aviation boom.

Razor-sharp rise in major airports commercial flights taking off or touching down, have left IAF aircrafts high-ceilinged in the sky like eagles scores of times, so as to kill time waiting for a signal to land. Even Scheduled flights are getting a preference over the IAF flights.

There have been many cases even in Delhi, where IAF aircraft have got the required clearance but have had to wait on the runaway before getting the signal from the Air Traffic Controller (ATC). In some cases, IAF aircraft engines were on but the pilot had to wait. In other cases, IAF aircraft were not given permission to land

The IAF is probably all set to get in touch with the National Airport Authority of India so that the flights of both civil as well as air force are synchronized in an effective manner.

I think, this not only wastage of money but in addition this deferment in flight take offs and landing may be the prime reason for aircrew weariness pointing a high-pitched threat to safety.
