India and fallacies go hand in hand. All our irrational beliefs and behaviors are having an impact on our future events, positively and negatively both. Superstitions are deeply rooted in ancient cultures and have gradually been lost from one generation to the next after serving their purpose. Superstitions were originally developed to have a sense of understanding and control in an exceedingly mysterious world.
But to my surprise we Indians this time have linked our myths and fallacies to the modern electronic gadget-mobile phones as well. New jolt in India now a day in rage are calls from mobile phone that kills or make people sick. Bravo Indians!
In the eastern state of Orissa people are switching off their phones so that devil could not call them. The rumour is that the beneficiary of an SMS or a phone call from an 11- to 14-digit numbers, in place of the regular 10, will fall sick or even die.
Phone companies and government is trying hard to as to amputate this myth from the minds of people as it is nothing but prank. This rumour is spreading like fire in Orissa as people are calling their relatives and friends to warn them.
I think that the current age of our society has enlightened us to the workings of nature and technology both and we till now have been enjoying its fruits from finding out its workings. Point of surprise here is that how can our educated Indian lot believe in such groundless folklores related to a gadget.
