More than 50 year old tradition of addressing a judge has been changed by supreme court so all the lawyers inspite of saying “My Lords,” or “Your Lordships” (for Supreme Court and High Court judges) and “Your Honor” (for the lower judiciary) , learn to say ’sir’ or ‘Mr. judge’.
Six weeks have been given to all the states units to make up their mind and then only it would be finalized for future use. The Supreme Court had previously disposed of a PIL by the Progressive and Vigilant Lawyers Forum seeking to make this change.
